3D Video Applications for 3D Digital Cinema,
3D Blu-ray and 3D Broadcast
Back in the 50’s, movie goers enjoyed scary SCi-Fi movies with monsters jumping off the screen into a 3D glasses wearing audiences. The concept of 3D video has not change but the technology has. But while the video resolution, clarity and even the 3D effects have been much improved, no standard has been established making it difficult to publish 3D content for playback in all possible 3D venues. All 3D Cinemas were based on some specific proprietary 3D Video delivery system.
Since the introduction of 3D Blu-ray discs, the Blu-ray Association has established a first delivery system based on a standard H.264 CODEC. This new 3D CODEC is an H.264 profile called Multi View Coding (MVC). Following the success of 3DBD (3D Blu-ray), many other industries are starting to adopt H.264 MVC as the standard 3D Video. Such applications as Digital Cinema, 3D Broadcast, 3D Internet Streaming, Digital Signage, Mobile and Gaming 3D devices, and some vertical applications in Medical, Scientific and Military applications.
VSS has developed a high quality, high efficiency MVC SDK available for Windows, Linux and Mac applications in any of the above mentioned Markets. Besides PC SDK, VSS has developed vCompress Pro, an offline MVC encoding tool for Blu-ray Disc Authoring, Digital Cinema and Internet VOD content and more. VSS has also integrated MVC CODEC into its Windows and Linux framework to assist customers in live 3D streaming and Digital Cinema delivery systems.
