In Broadcast Ingest, the term Ingest refers to the digitizing of video content at its highest video quality for the purpose of later editing, re-compression and distribution to consumers. The term Archive refers to long term storage of high value content but essentially it has the same video quality requirements as Ingest. The accepted method of Ingest and Archive for AVC content is AVC-intra. VSS has developed industries best quality and performance AVC-Intra Encoder and Decoder. Wireless ENG (Electronic News Gathering) refers to the usage of a broadcast camera “on location”. Traditionally, this application required very expansive Satellite trucks with an even more expensive Satellite upload connection. More recently, broadcasters have started to use other available wireless networks to send their digital live broadcast through to their studios. There are a variety of IP based wireless technologies which can be used but they all have something in common. They all have very low and un-reliable bandwidth. Solutions which manage such difficult environments require a very special type of video encoder. VSS has developed the best solution for such conditions.
